Fever In The Road

The Bamboos

The band who defined Australian soul in the naughties continues their compelling musical evolution with Fever In The Road. Bandleader Lance Ferguson takes the group into sonic landscapes which career from the wondrously anthemic, to the dreamy psychedelic and the darkly fragile. And this time round all 11 tracks feature regular vocalists Kylie Auldist and Ella Thompson, a departure from the guest heavy Medicine Man. Amid a glut of revivalists re-treading the retro waters, The Bamboos have carved out a signature sound that embraces classic and current influences whilst weaving them into something altogether unique. "I always want to make a better record, a different record. The Bamboos had their roots in certain genres but now it's been blown wide open. Now it feels like we can go in many directions... our direction," says Lance.?

This time around, all 11 tracks feature regular vocalists Kylie Auldist and Ella Thompson, a direction Ferguson explains, "I love to work with different vocalists in the studio, but I really felt with this album that I wanted us to make a definitive statement as a band."

And what they do on 'Fever In the Road' is take their sound to a place where musical risk-taking collides with the assuredness that can only come after more than a decade in the game. The Bamboos have carved out a signature sound that embraces classic and current influences whilst weaving them into something altogether brand new.
