Ku De Ta Volume 6 Bali Indonesia: Selected by Jim Breese & BTK
Various Artists
ALL THE COLOURS open proceedings with their massively upbeat ‘SHAME', an explosive piece of
pop-dance that's so instantly catchy you'll feel as if you've heard it countless times before...
ELEKTROMEKANIK then calm the senses on ‘DON'T STOP', a modern Easy Listening instrumental that
drifts subtly along... It's an ‘afternoon cocktail' mood that's again deliciously maintained by ‘SOUL TIES',
a delicate, understated piece from MAX LYAZGIN & HOT SAND where a female vocal breakdown repeats
the words ‘individual', ‘emotional', spiritual' and ‘sexual', at just the right moments... There's modernist
Balearic Chill too, in the form of CLASSIXX and ‘The Revenge Summer Dub Remix' of ‘SANTA
DOMINGO', a swirly, semi-instrumental piece that's so soft and pretty and fluffy and cuddly that you'll
never want it to end... How fortuitous then that a similarly looping and hypnotic mood follows on ‘RIGHT
ABOUT IT', a majestic example of Nu Disco from PoE... LANE 8 extend this further too, with the
matured and exceedingly well-produced ‘WE DON'T KNOW'... It's an entranced state that's ultimately,
but kindly, corrupted by THE GROOVERS and ‘MAKE ME FEEL', which culls lyrics from 60s classic ‘You
Make Me So Very Happy' to haunting orchestral strings, grooving guitars and a syrupy-rich and soulful
vocal delivery... The energy rush of ‘ALWAYS', from Aussie band PANAMA and the Future Classics label,
switches the mood again, aided by a Classixx club remix that takes it from indie pop, to dance floor
anthem... Meanwhile FRAMEWERKS' richly atmospheric ‘ELECTRIC RELIGION' perfectly encapsulates
our sunset musical moment - delicately constructed, chilled and deep, with a contemplative,
heart-tugging message about ‘looking for a place, and finding it' within... A perfect example of
super-credible, hip-swinging disco-cool is then heard on ‘HANG ON' from ROTER & LEWIS... A huge
favourite with our own BTK, ELEKFANTZ ‘DIGGIN' ON YOU' is a superbly polished piece of Nu-Disco
based Pop-Soul from leading Techno producer Gui Boratto... MONTE then unleash some massive 80s
influences, via their use of chords and instrumental hooks, yet still deliver a thoroughly modern piece
of optimistic Deep House on ‘YOU SHOULD KNOW'... Legendary dance producer MIGUEL MIGS
delivers his classic a-smidge-Tribal, a-touch-twitchy, and a whole lot warm and groovy feel on the
magnificent ‘DOWN TO IT'... Then finally, as always, we conclude with the perfect end-of-nighter, as
SONS OF MARIA bring these magnificent musical matters to a close with ‘FOYER', a misty-eyed mood
piece that makes no grand lyrical statement, yet nevertheless creates a deeply touching and emotional
atmosphere... Goodbye it may be, though only until the next volume!
