Toco's new album "Memoria" takes the listener on sugary kind of North-eastern Brazil to Rio De Janeiro.
"Memoria" shows Toco's artistic development from the previous album "Outro Lugar", which was recorded partly in Rio de Janeiro Roberto Menescal and other artists of the Carioca scene, and it raises particular elements of bossa and samba jazz of the 60s produced. "Guarapiranga", a song on this album, was recently featured only in the soundtrack of the film "The Silver Linings Playbook," which earned seven nominations in 2013 and an award at the awards ceremony of the Academy Awards. With this album Toco denies neither the tradition nor his passion for Rio De Janeiro and its picturesque musician, but he explores the musical world of artists who have influenced him and inspired him on his way as an artist: Edu Lobo, Milton Nascimento, Arthur Verocai, Geraldo Vandre, Sergio Ricardo Dorival Caymmi e. "Memoria" is an album about my memories, my hometown, the smell and taste of my childhood, things that I've read, the movies I saw in the cinema and my love for music. It is about the homecoming, connect to the past and recall beautiful and happy memories. "Memoria" refers particularly to the region of Minais Geraus and the Brazilian north-east, its hot climate, the religiosity of the people and their trust in miracles. All of this calls to mind images of known mysterious and surreal stories where time passes slowly in a familiar dimension. "(Toco)
